ABOUT US

Green Mountain Minerals has evolved over two decades from a pup tent pitched in Tucson a full-service dealer dedicated to sourcing the world’s finest mineral specimens and making them available to discerning connoisseurs and collectors worldwide.

We are dedicated to the belief that representing the Earth’s finest art to passionate collectors is not a commodity business, but a very personal relationship, both between the dealer and the collector and the collector and the mineral. In all of our dealings, therefore, we seek to understand and further those relationships.

We are at home in the Hudson Valley town of Beacon, a short journey out of New York City where we maintain an exhibit of fine minerals at our offices. Collectors from far and near are welcome to come and visit us to share the passion and love of minerals.

OUR TEAM

Dylan Stolowitz, President

Dylan’s passion for minerals started at an early age when he was gifted a quartz crystal by a relative. As he grew up, he felt a calling to take a more professional involvement with minerals, and moved to New York to be mentored by established dealers Stuart Wilensky and Daniel Trinchillo. He became fully immersed in the mineral world, thinking minerals during the day, and dreaming minerals at night. He traveled (and still travels) the world extensively to seek out and purchase minerals at the source, and refined his well-mentored eye for aesthetics into the priceless gift of recognizing beauty in the rough, and pairing the minerals he brought home with equally discerning collectors.

Kevin Schofield, Business Manager

Kevin worked as a geoscientist and technical leader in the oil industry for 35 years, and has been a collector of minerals for fifty years, so it seemed natural that when he retired to the Hudson Valley town of Beacon in 2017, his relationship with Green Mountain Minerals would evolve from collector to worker. As Business Manager, his collector knowledge and business skills are put to use managing inventory, running the Gallery on Main Street in Beacon, and dealing with the minutiae of daily business to allow Dylan to do what he does best…putting fine minerals together with knowledgeable collectors.

Eva Geisler, Social Media & Graphic Design

Eva brings creativity, an understanding of the importance of good design and an appreciation of the power of social media to all Green Mountain Minerals’ interactions with the world outside of our face-to-face business. Her background in Visual Arts, creative skills and her deft touch with graphics are evident in all our print advertisements. Although she was “new to minerals” when she started working with us, her unerring sense of the aesthetic has honed her appreciation of a fine mineral and its place both on the page and in the cabinet.

Rudolf van Dommele, Photographer

Rudolf is a native of The Netherlands. After graduating from de Academy for Fotografie en Fotonica in Den Haag, during which time he worked as a stringer for several newspapers and magazines, he moved to Paris and worked as printmaker for noted French-American artis and filmmaker William Klein. After two years in the darkroom, he moved back behind the lens into the world of international fashion photography, eventually moving to New York in to work with some of the most prominent photographers of the day. Over the course of a forty-year creative career, Rudolf has also been a competitive chess-player and teacher and videographer. After a chance meeting with his New York neighbor Dylan Stolowitz, he has turned his creative genius to the world of mineral photography, and has noted that after working in fashion it is great fun to work with models who are both beautiful and do not complain about holding a pose for long periods of time.
