Calcite with Sphalerite

A fabulous and aesthetic Elmwood calcite-and-sphalerite combination specimen, The “plinth” comprises composite sphalerite crystals to several centimetres in size of a deep, lustrous brown colour, given a little extra sparkle by a scattering of tiny “rice grain” calcites, and set off by a pair of twinned scalenohedral calcites 8 or 9 cm in size projecting out of the sphalerite. At the apex, standing proud of the matrix, is a massive honey-coloured, highly lustrous and very complex intergrown group of twinned calcite crystals. They are oriented perpendicular to the axis of the specimen, with a positive forest of very nearly perfect terminations pointing off to left and right. Comes with a custom acrylic base.
